Boracay Activities
Well things sure have changed since the 70’s, when our home of Boracay was a well guarded secret among locals. However, a couple of things changed that. The first was a foreign film crew who were filming in the area and came across this island paradise. Then there was Jens Peters book and amazing review of the island, which also helped to spill the beans on the secret.
So, now you know of this island getaway that has evolved into one of the favourite beach holiday spots in Asia. So I hear you ask, what things to do in Boracay would we suggest as locals? The obvious choice, and first port of call for most visitors, is to make a beeline for coast to soak up one of the world’s most stunning beaches. They have been recognised constantly as one of the best on the planet. You can grab a chair and let the action come to you... food, massages, and cocktails. Or take local tuk-tuk to some of the stunning secluded little spots on the island for some more private relaxation.
After the obvious rejuvenation most people feel after being recharged at the ocean is to start to think what other Boracay activities should they check out while they are here? Water sports are in abundance all over the island. There are many Boracay activities on offer including is jet ski hire, parasailing, scuba diving, snorkelling, kite surfing and buggy hires to keep your adrenalin pumping.
One of our favourites is hiring a private sail boat for a few hours, and is surprisingly affordable. Let the wind carry you on a traditional boat to your own private place on the island, or drop in to an Oceanside hut and have a fresh coconut drink!
However, there are a few more undiscovered secrets that are well worth checking out after you have had your beach fix. Although not very evident in the main tourist areas, local culture and village life is still strong. On our Off the Beaten Track Boracay tour gets you out to see some of the culture behind the island.
Visiting schools, local churches, and a handicraft and recycling cooperative, it gives you a chance to meet real locals, doing small but great things. We finish off with a drink & swim at a secluded beach away from the crowds. An authentic Boracay activity like no other!
Now many people stick to Boracay island, but with just a short ferry ride you can discover more of what rural life is life in the Malay region. Our Malay Rural Experience is one of those truly unique travel adventures where you explore caves, visit a local ladies cooperative, meet fishermen, see rice farming, and have your local lunch made for you while you swim in Nabaoy River, enjoying a fresh coconut drink – and one of the most unforgettable things to do. All the team at Boracay Urban Adventures have lived on the island for many years. We have watched the island change, grow, develop and settle. We are all passionate about its preservation and feel honoured to call Boracay home. It is our pleasure to welcome you to our home and show you the places that make this our Paradise!
